白天忙於研究人畜共患病的譚咏昕，有空的時候會通過油畫描述大自然的奇景，並藉此探索人類與身邊環境的關係。她的畫反映了她的信念–無論人世有多混亂孤獨，人類仍然和其他動物及大環境的緊密聯繫是不可否認的。
In between reading papers on veterinary infectious diseases, Jacqueline uses oil paint to express a sense of wonder at the natural world, ponder its inevitability and explore the relationship between humans and the world they live in. Her paintings reflect her conviction that as isolating as the human experience can be, it is nevertheless true that humans, animals and nature are interconnected and undeniably intertwined.

被捕捉的魚掙扎時引起水面波幅，漁夫們對牠們的爭扎不但無動
於衷，似乎完全沒擦覺到。看似平靜舒適的畫面竟暗藏魚群的生死關頭，
通過對比呈現人類的冷漠。
Despite the disturbance to the water the fish cause in their struggle, the fishermen are unmoved, even oblivious, to their desperation. The beauty of the scene is marred by the dance of life and death.
